Hope Fell Summer Race

294 runners started the 2019 Hope Fell Summer Race on what was a pretty cool and misty evening. First back in a time of 42:53 was Matlock AC’s Harry Holmes, closely followed with a dash for second between Billy Hobbs of Tunbridge Wells Harriers who finished in 43:20, and Matlock AC’s Stuart Bond, in a time of 43:22. Megan Wilson of Dark Peak Fell Runners was the first female in 49:59, followed by fellow club runner Sally Fawcett, in 52:08. Ellen Downs was our third female in a time of 52:32, running for SHUOC.

Hope Fell Summer Race

It was hot, but glorious! 214 runners started the 2018 Hope Fell Summer Race and following a sprint finish the first person to cross the winning line was Stuart Bond, in a time of 43:14. Stuart was followed very closely by Dan Haworth who finished in 43:18. Chloe Haines was the first female back in a time of 52:56.

Hope Fell Winter Race

213 runners started the 2018 Hope Winter Fell Race on a gloriously clear and for a very nice change, sunny day. This was our first race using RaceTek’s timing technology and we hope that you all enjoyed being able to view your results as you finished. First place was a battle to the end with Alex Hinchcliffe and Billy Cartwright finishing just two seconds apart!

Hope Fell Summer Race

What an eventful night! I think it is safe to say that there were new and not so new route records. Those runners that were unfortunately directed straight up Win Hill ran approximately 2km less than those that followed the more traditional route, but we also had some runners that having realised they were on the wrong path, tried to correct themselves thereby creating a third route. All we can do is apologise; unfortunately mistakes can happen and as a group of volunteers trying to deliver you the best experience possible no one intentionally meant to cause such confusion. 2017 will certainly be one to remember.

Hope Fell Winter Race

On a wet and at times snowy day, 173 runners set off on the second Hope Fell Winter Race. Chris Arthur, running for Bowland was the first finisher of the day, completing the course in 44:43; Caitlin Rice of Ribble Valley Harriers was the first lady over the finish line in a time of 54:45.

Hope Fell Summer Race

One of the wetter days that June gave us saw 235 runners set out on the 70th anniversary year of Hope Fell Race. Congratulations to Matt Elkington of Dark Peak Fell Runners, first home in a time of 42:05; and Anna Hoogkamer, first female, also of Dark Peak Fell Runners, in a time of 52:47.

Hope Fell Winter Race

The first Hope Fell Winter Race saw 221 runners set off on the reverse route of the popular summer fell race. Congratulations to Stuart Bond, first home and setting the winter record at 44.26; and Lauren McNeil, first female, setting the women’s winter record at 52.47.

A fabulous evening of races; 219 set off to summit Win Hill in the 2015 Hope Fell Race. Jonathan Crickmore was victorious in just 44:00 and Olivia Walwyn was again the first female in 50:50.

Record number of entries 321, beating the previous highest number of 271 set in 2013. A slight change in route resulted in two new race records for Stu Bond (41:47) and Olivia Walwyn (51:06).

Record number of entries 271, beating the previous highest number of 267 set in 1985. Stu Bond carved 1 minute & 1 second of his record set in 2011 with a time of 39:57, well done Stu.

Hope Fell Summer Race

Another great nights running. A new ladies record by Olivia Walwyn-Bush, Altringham in 47:21. Beating last years record set by Laura Gibson by over 3 mins. Dave Taylor, DPFR V40 in 1st place 44:00, 2nd Dave Neill, Staffs Moorland 44:54 & the fatboys Jonny Wilson in 3rd place 45:53. Field of 247 runners. Thank you for turning out & supporting the race.

23 runners in this years junior race. Winner, Tom Craig, U/A, time 9:26m. In 2nd place Lucas Parker, Pennine, 10:18m and in 3rd place Elliott Meylan, Buxton. The 1st Hope Local for year 3 was Harry Knox-Waller, Hope Valley Hurricanes, in a time of 11:36m.

The Junior Fell Race is growing. We had 29 youngsters in the race this year. Most were locals, but we had runners from Whalley Bridge, Nottingham and Sheffield. Well done Mark Bartley & the Junior / Fun Run Team.
